In today’s society it has become the norm to spend more time at work, earn more money and spend less quality time with your family until you are too old to actually enjoy it. There a few that decided to not take that road and create their own way. And those are the ones that work from home without the worry of not paying their bills. One of the options you have if you want to take the same path is to write.
Why writing?
The reason why writing is a good option is because almost everybody needs it. You are going to tell me that almost everybody can do it, as well. In fact, that isn’t true. Even if this is one of the most attractive work from home careers, not everybody is qualified. Besides the fact that you need a good grammar knowledge, you also need to enjoy writing and the ability to tell stories.
Like in any work field, if you don’t enjoy what you are doing you will never be the best at it. If you are deciding to work from home, it’s even more important because you don’t have a boss to nag you about all the things you haven’t done or a secretary to remind you of things and you definitely don’t have the human resources team to keep you motivated. So writing is a good option if you actually like writing or telling stories.
It’s also great because it’s in such high demand. Everybody needs content. From online sites and blogs, to social media, to reviews, critics or even pamphlets. A business that is busy with their field of activity would be grateful to have a remote writer and that will make work from home, ideal for you.
What kind of writing can you get done ?
I like to think that the list is endless, when it comes to the types of writing you can get done. Test some of them out and then try to focus on the ones you like the most. In the next lines I did a rough classification of them.
- Online content for companies and professionals. Depending on the company, the tasks may include blog posts, product descriptions, reviews, ebooks, whitepapers, copyright titles and campaigns, translating web pages, social media content and posts, etc.
- Offline content for companies or professionals. In collaborating with small companies to work from home, you can write pamphlets, reports, presentations and other materials based on larger documents or proof reading different materials. Translating articles and product descriptions can also be included.
- Working on your own terms. With writing, this can also be an option. You can start your own blog and promote yourself and your specific services or start working on affiliate programs. You can also write your own book or collaborate with a newspaper or magazine.
Writing, your work from home
With the growing number of written material and the focus on content all over the internet, writing might be a great option. Ask yourself if this is something you’d enjoy and be able to do each day. As simple as it seems you do need the skills to tell a story. But it’s also true that practice makes perfect.
